Apparently there is controversy over popular American musician Lizzo playing former President James Madison’s flute, as I understand it, after people pointed out that Lizzo is also a notorious slave owner, if I understand the controversy correctly. Many have questioned whether we should even venerate someone publicly if they have several people chained up on their land which they believe are not fully human and have them working at their will without pay or leisure and no chance of betterment.
The worst of all is the smiling face she put on all this, dancing and playing lovely music when in actuality the crimes are so egregious, and people wish to cover them with this veneer of decorum and stolid inhumanity.
